I\u2019ve compiled a list of 10 tips that come to my mind for fresh Scrum Masters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Don\u2019t rush! Learn to slow down. It will take time. Turning theoretical knowledge into practice is not easy. It may take months to feel that it\u2019s working and beneficial. Don\u2019t panic, don\u2019t feel bad about yourself; keep learning and practicing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Be a good observer, an active listener. Identify the current situation and the need.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Stay open to continuous learning. The learning process never ends. At the point where you say, \u201cI\u2019m an expert now,\u201d new information, articles, and applications related to that topic will emerge to challenge what you know.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Remember, Agile is just a framework; don\u2019t forget there are shades of gray. You won\u2019t be able to say, \u201cThis is the right way\u201d for any approach or method. Navigate the gray areas and find the tone that suits your team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. You\u2019ll work with people who don\u2019t know or misinterpret your job. Don\u2019t be surprised. Remember, everyone has the right not to know certain things. You also have the right to explain. When you encounter such a person, put on your educator hat and teach them what your job is and what it isn\u2019t.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. You don\u2019t have to be a software expert. If you\u2019re eager to learn what your team does, this job is for you. Put on your coaching hat and guide your team with powerful questions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Don\u2019t be ashamed of what you don\u2019t know. You can\u2019t know everything about Agile. After all, there will always be something new. Saying \u201cI don\u2019t know\u201d is a sign of respect for those who do.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Remember, the foundation of Agile is experimentation. Try, fail, try differently.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. You can\u2019t fix all the problems at once. Prioritize and focus one at a time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. Don\u2019t get too caught up in certification. Having a certification without experience won\u2019t mean much.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
